About Me

I do a number of different things. But, all-in-all, I guess I’m a writer-performer. Broken down it runs something like this. I’m …

A comedian
ʻViciously funny and inventive,ʼ The Guardian; ʻMasterful,ʼ Evening Standard; ʻGreat comedy talent,ʼ Chortle. I am resident MC at Londonʼs oldest comedy venue, Downstairs At The Kingʼs Head, and have performed many full-length shows – both straight stand-up and character comedy. Read some reviews. See some stand-up here or here. Watch an amusing vid.

A writer
My first book, Life After The State, (‘Extraordinary’, James Harding, director of BBC News; ‘Incredibly thought-provoking,’ Al Murray; ‘Brilliant,’ Steve Baker, MP) has nothing to do with comedy. It is a book of political and economic philosophy.

Nor does my second book. Bitcoin – the Future of Money? (‘A great account. Read it!’ Sir Richard Branson), which tells the amazing story of bitcoin.

I co-wrote and narrated the acclaimed documentary about the global financial crisis, The Four Horsemen – 3 million hits and counting(‘Excellent writing and narration from DF’ Front Row).

I write a weekly investment column for Moneyweek about gold and finance, as well as occasional pieces for Virgin, Breitbart and the Independent.

I have also written and produced numerous short-films, pilots and silly videos – among which Debt Bomb became a viral hit.

An actor
Recent appearances include  The In-Betweeners Movie and  the lead role in an Irish drama for TG4 about the life of political revolutionary, Erskine Childers. I also shot a comedy pilot, Frisby’s Greatest Ever, in which I perform 9 different roles.  This, made by Discovery, won an award a couple of years back.

Next year you can see me playing the Burlington editor in Bricks, a BBC 4 film about Carl André.

A  presenter
I currently host The Virgin Podcast. I used to present Sky Comedy Close-Up, a movie review show on Sky Comedy. I host various other podcasts. I used to MC boxing events for Hayemaker Boxing. And I compere comedy clubs all the time …

A voiceover
Day-to-day I can be found trotting about the sound studios of London. I am one of the more prolific v-os in the UK, voicing many documentaries, ads, promos, trailers, cartoons and so on.

And a financial guru
I’m often asked to speak at conferences, on TV and after dinner, which I very much enjoy doing, on matters financial and economic. I also host an occasional podcast on the same subject.

So a busy bumblebee.
